REQUIREMENTS 

  • Applicants must have passed Grade 12 with a minimum of a 60% average and going onto their first year of study at a tertiary institution

  • The applicants must be residents within Emfuleni Local Municipality

  • Priority will be given to those learners coming from disadvantaged family backgrounds.

  • Families which are registered on indigent database categories will be given first preference

  • Joint income for the parents/guardian or household of the applicant should not exceed R350 000 per annum

PREFFERED FIELDS OF STUDIES

Full-time undergraduate, artisan training and post graduate bursaries from approved institutions will be awarded annually as per below listed study fields:

  • ­ Commerce

  • Law

  • Technical Skills e.g. Electrical, Civil /Chemical Engineering etc.

  • Human and Social Sciences

  • Science and Technology

  • Any other scares and Critical Skills as informed by the ELM needs
  • Preference will be given to enrolment to local institution of higher learning followed by Potchefstroom, Mahikeng and Gauteng institutions
  • Testimonial letter from high school where the applicant matriculated
  • Applicants must also have proof of admission into an institution of higher learning
  • Preferred fields of study will be available on the website, or contact the municipality in respect of the fields of study

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • The bursary covers study material, registration and tuition fees.
  • Accommodation and meals for selected applicants will also be covered.
