EMERGENCY POWER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION UPDATE, 06 September 2024

We want to announce that we have finally finalized work at the Town Substation. The municipality has commenced the process of restoring power. The switching- on of all affected areas will take a few hours.

 

The only areas that will not get electricity tonight would be areas where mini substations and DB boxes have been vandalized. For safety, consumers must always treat all electricity supply points as LIVE. Do note that intermittent outages may be experienced during this period. Consumers are advised to exercise caution.

The Emfuleni Local Municipality takes this moment to sincerely apologize to the residents affected by the power outage on 27 August 2024. The emergency power cuts were a result of a cable fault that torched an informer panel supplying various areas in Vanderbjilpark, Bophelong, and other Agricultural holding areas.

 

There have been huge delays due to the massive damage caused by the fire. We acknowledge the inconvenience caused to our business community, residents, students, and all stakeholders affected in these areas.

 

The municipality has been working 24/7 with various teams on-site working to resolve this problem. Unanticipated structural and other technical challenges led to times set for switching on electricity extended over and over again. This has caused a lot of frustration to our consumers. It is in this light that we wish to convey our sincerest apologies.
