He holds a BCom (honours degree) in economics and has countless certificates among others, in economics, personnel management, public finance and project management to name but a few.

In his acceptance speech he promised councilors that he will be working within a collective chosen by the ANC. He further made a bold undertaking to listen to all views from a range of stakeholders in the municipality in order to take the municipality forward.

Furthermore the Executive Mayor outlined tasks that the ANC has given including among others;

  • Speeding up service delivery
  • Improving relations with the Sedibeng District Municipality
  • Filling vacant positions that exist in Emfuleni
  • Fighting corruption

The Mayor used the opportunity to dismiss the speculation surrounding Mayoral Committee reshuffle. He informed Council that there will not be any changes to the Mayoral Committee except the housing portfolio, where MMC Sakhiwe Khumalo resigned and will now be replaced by Councillor Sello Pitso.
