- The search for the new Miss Emfuleni has been closed spectacularly with the crowing of Mandisa Magwa (21). Mandisa was part of the 15 finalists who competed for the much sought after crown at the glittering event held at Riverside Sun Hotel on on Saturday 27th September 2009. The event also marked the official end of the successful Vaal River Carnival.
Sensitivity, tenderness, creativity, intelligence and kindness are some of the qualities the young ladies were judged on. Mandisa scored high in all these areas and as the new ambassador for ELM, she is expected to play a meaningful role in the municipal social development programmes.

6 August 2009 - Emfuleni is not a host city for 2010, however there are opportunities associated with the legacy projects for 2010. There have been a number of engagements with SAFA through its President, Dr. M Oliphant. Subsequently, a meeting was secured with the CEO of FIFA LOC Dr. D Jordan on the 07th August 2009 at SAFA House in Johannesburg.
