The Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) on 07 November 2012 issued a media statement indicating that it is considering a proposal for a merger of the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) and Midvaal Local Municipality.

This was followed by the issuing of a notice in terms of section 26 of the Local Government: Municipal Demarcation Act, 1998 (Act No 27 of 1998). The act requires that the Demarcation Board publish the said notice in the media to allow for public participation based on the proposal to it by various stakeholders.

The 2012/13 Miss Emfuleni is the beautiful 19 year old Tsholofelo Motaung.

The newly crowned beauty queen showed her intentions to win at the beginning of the show when she scooped the top model of the show. Tsholofelo says she is planning to study Social work with any university next academic year.

Sedibeng District 2012 Women's Month Launch

It was on August 2012, 15:00, at Stonehaven on the Vaal in Vanderbijlpark when Emfuleni Local Municipality together with Sedibeng District Municipality launched the women’s month calendar with the contribution of the proud sponsors of the event.

The women’s month calendar launch was sponsored by Emfuleni Local Municipality, Lesedi Local Municipality, Midvaal Local Municipality, Vaal 21 a River City and the main coordinator of the event was Sedibeng District Municipality.

Emfuleni Local Municipality reveives unqualified audit opinion for 2011/2012

In what can be described as a historic occurrence, the Emfuleni Local Municipality has attained unqualified audit opinion in the 2011/2012 financial year. This is the most positive audit outcome of the Municipality for the first time in the history of Emfuleni Local Municipality.

The report was handed over to the Executive Mayor of Emfuleni Cllr Greta Hlongwane by the Corporate Executive of the Gauteng Office of the Auditor General, Mr Paul Serote, during the handover event held at the Apartheid Museum in Gold reef City in Johannesburg on Friday, 30 November 2012.

Gauteng MEC Ismail Vadi accompanied by the Emfuleni executive mayor Greta, Ward councillor, Isabel Loots, and members of the mayoral committee held a successful imbizo at Rus –ter-Val community hall on Wednesday 26th September 2012.

The issue of high rate of unemployment, drugs and alcohol abuse, crimes statistics’, education and health featured prominently in MEC Vadi’s speechwhen addressing residents at the packed Rus- ter- Val Community Hall.

Wedding Expo draws crowds Ekasi!

WEDDING fever gripped the kasi at the weekend. But there was no happy couple exchanging vows. Instead there were designers, models, events managers and exhibitors putting on an exciting kasi wedding expo!

The Sebokeng Wedding Expo was held at Saul Tsotetsi sports complex in zone 14, Sebokeng, Vaal, South of Joburg.
