Emfuleni Fifa Logo20 April 2010 - The Emfuleni Local Municipality is working tirelessly in ensuring that the George Thabe Stadium in Sharpeville is ready as a 2010 FIFA World Cup Training Venue for the Ivory Coast national team.

So far, name boards at the Stadium have been replaced with new ones. Work orders for painting of the pavilions, buildings and facilities were issued a while back and the contractors are almost at the last phase of the project. Water taps, toilets and broken windows have been repaired. The flood lights have been repaired and are in good working condition.

20 April 2010 - The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) has identified the diesel vehicle emissions as one of the contributing sources to poor air quality in the region. In an effort to improve the quality of air in the region, ELM will embark on a diesel emissions control awareness program which will be launched this week. The program will be implemented in the area of jurisdiction of ELM which is part of the Sedibeng District Municipality.

Boitumelo protests20 April 2010 - Following media enquiries regarding a planned service delivery protest march by residents of Boitumelo, the Emfuleni Local Municipality would like to put it on record that the application for protest march made by the concerned residents of Ward 27, was only received on the 19th of April 2010 by the Division Traffic and Security.

It has to be noted that applications for protest marches must be submitted at least 7 days prior to the event to the Department Public Safety’s Division Traffic and Security for consideration.
