Today on this eve of the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup and with only 26 days remaining towards the official kick-off; as Emfuleni municipality we saw a need together with our partners to organise this unique occasion. We are here for the screening of soccer stories that would give insight into the footballing world of some of the best and most famous players ever to grace our screens and produced by the football fraternity.

Madam Speaker, Members of the Mayoral Committee, Honourable Councilors, Municipal Manager and your Senior Management Team, Community leaders, Distinguished guests and Ladies and gentlemen.

Introduction: Constitutional mandate

The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa contemplated the mandate of local government as to represent the development processes in municipalities and in charge of municipal planning, budgeting and management. In this regard, municipalities are expected to discharge their responsibilities mainly by galvanizing the participation of communities for the betterment of their living conditions.

22 April 2010 - The Emfuleni Local Municipality, in conjunction with the Road traffic management Corporation and Henkel Company, will officially handover scholar patrol equipment to Vuyo Primary and Ntsele Primary.

21 April 2010 - Due to technical challenges that are beyond the Emfuleni Local Municipality’s control, the launch of the diesel emissions awareness program has been postponed to a still to be announced date.
