Media advisory: Emfuleni commemorates Mandela Day

17 July 2018 - In celebrating the centenary of world icon Nelson Mandela, Emfuleni Local Municipality is hosting elderly citizens on Mandela Day, July 18th [Wednesday].

Executive Mayor, Councillor Jacob Khawe will be accompanied by Members of the Mayoral Committee and officials from the municipality’s Health and Social Development Department.

20th April 2018 - The Executive Mayor of Emfuleni Local (ELM), Cllr. Jacob Lehana Khawe together with key water and sanitation services provision stakeholders will be hosting the 5th instalment of the ELM water summit on Wednesday the 25th and Thursday the 26th April 2018.

Themed “OPTIMISING WATER SERVICES BY RETHINKING THE WATER CYCLE”, the 2018 summit is aimed at deliberating on the latest innovations and the sharing of best practices with fellow stakeholders in the water sector.

16 April 2018 - On Wednesday, 18th April 2018, the Executive Mayor of the Emfuleni Local Municipality, Cllr. Jacob Khawe will be reporting back to the people of Emfuleni Local Municipality, on 120 days in Office under the theme “Celebrating 100 Years of Nelson Mandela: Declaring Emfuleni a Clean City!”

The Executive Mayor was inaugurated on the 30th November 2017 by the Council. In his acceptance speech, he committed to work together with the people of Emfuleni and provide a report back on progress made on the 5 key priority areas.

Media Statement: Water Restrictions Extended In 2018

27th February 2018 - This refers, Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) encourages all of the consumers to start using water sparingly. This follows a meeting held between ELM and Rand Water principals on Friday the 16th February 2018 whereby it was concluded that ELM has to reduce its monthly bulk water consumption by 50%.

A list of target restriction areas was drafted, and 11 out of a total of 22 meters were restricted with a minimum of 5% and maximum of 20% as of Tuesday the 20th February 2018. As a result, higher laying areas and top floors in most of the high raised buildings in our towns are experiencing intermittent water supply.
