A delegation of the Emfuleni Local Municipality led by the Executive Mayor, Cllr SA Mshudulu met with the executive management led by Mr. Bobby Motaung. This happened on the 24th January 2011, Kaizer Chiefs Headquarters in Naturen, South of Johannesburg.

The purpose of the meeting was to formalize a partnership agreement which will led to:

• The establishment of a sports Academy in the Vaal;
• Sport development;
• Talent identification, development and nurturing;
• Social responsibility programmes;
• Tourism;
• Improvement of sports facilities;
• Utilization of George Thabe and Izak Steyl Stadiums
• Multi purpose centres.

This is part of the international partnership between the municipality and the PSV Eindhoven Football Club of Holland. This relationship will culminate in Kaizer Chiefs Football Club and PSV Eindhoven establishing a partnership on sport development.

The meeting between Kaizer chies resulted in the establishment of a committee that will amongst others develop a business plan for the development of the Municipality. The possibility of Kaizer Chiefs playing against PSV Eindhoven both in the Netherlands and South Africa is being exploited. Kaizer Chiefs committed its expertise to ensure that the partnership is a success.

A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed in February between the municipality and Kaizer Chiefs.
