Gauteng Provincial Government to rehabilitate major road.

THE R42 – an arterial road linking Vereeniging to Vanderbijlpark and Emfuleni Local Municipality to the North West Province will undergo a R172-million upgrade.

Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport Dr Ismail Vadi officially launched the R42/Potch Road Rehabilitation Project on Friday, 01 March 2019.

The project is expected to be completed in July 2020.

MEC Vadi was joined at the launch by Emfuleni Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Councillor Gift Moerane, MMC for Infrastructure Planning and Development, Councillor Khethiwe Ntombela and other government officials.

Government officials then posed for photos of the sod-event, effectively starting the rehabilitation project which will employ a significant number of people and also empower local small contractors.

Motorists have been urged to exercise extreme caution when driving on the R42 as road-works will soon begin to rehabilitate the single carriageway.
